History
The Champlain Valley AHEC was incorporated in April 1998 as a non-profit educational organization to serve the Vermont counties of Addison, Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle. Champlain Valley AHEC was founded with the idea of putting communication, cooperation, coordination, and collaboration at the core of the activities and programs developed for the Champlain Valley region.
Champlain Valley AHEC is proud to be a member of the Vermont AHEC Network, a statewide program working to strengthen Vermont’s community health systems and the health of Vermonters. The partnership between the Northeastern Vermont AHEC, Champlain Valley AHEC, Southern Vermont AHEC, and the UVM College of Medicine AHEC Program Office works together to increase the supply, stability and education of Vermont’s healthcare workforce, and provide a link between the University of Vermont College of Medicine (UVM) and Vermont’s communities.
We are forever indebted to Mimi Reardon, MD for her invaluable efforts in getting AHEC started in Vermont. Read more about Mimi here: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/locallegends/Biographies/Reardon_Mildred.html
