School Based Programs
Classroom Presentations
We offer interactive classroom presentations for middle and high schools students that build awareness of the diversity of health care careers. Through these presentations we help students learn about some steps they can take to prepare for a heath care career, access Vermont education resources and continue to explore health careers.
Middle School Club Scrubs (6th – 8th grade)
Club Scrubs is an interactive opportunity offered to middle school students who self -identity an interest in exploring heath careers. The club helps to connect and inspire students through hands on activities, tools of the trade exploration, on line health and career related simulations, presentations that include educational planning, visits by health professionals and health professions’ students and other engagement with helpful resources.
High School Youth Health Service Corps (YHSC)
The Youth Health Services Corps (YHSC), based on a national model, is for high school students who self -identify an interest in health careers. Students engage in activities to help inspire and support them in their educational and career paths. They learn about student leadership, health disparities, vulnerable populations, cultural competence and explore health careers on line. They spend time with health care professionals and also in practicing some basic health care skills including CPR training, resulting in certification. Students also participate in school based or community volunteer work or a service learning project.
